Detailed Day-by-Day Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali arrival and transfer to Bwindi

Meet your guide in Kigali and begin the scenic drive north through Rwanda toward the Uganda border. After immigration and customs formalities, continue into the highlands near Bwindi. Actual driving time varies with the chosen trekking sector and border conditions. Settle in at a comfortable lodge and prepare equipment for the forest trek.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Rise early for breakfast and transfer to the Uganda Wildlife Authority briefing point indicated on your permit. Follow experienced rangers into the forest; the walking route depends on where the assigned gorilla family is feeding. Enjoy the regulated visit, then retrace your route to the trailhead. Spend the remaining afternoon resting at the lodge.

Day 3: Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi

Leave the forest landscape behind and travel through terraced hills toward Lake Bunyonyi near Kabale. Enjoy the lake views and a relaxed afternoon at your accommodation. A guided canoe trip or community visit can be arranged when suitable. The lake is ideal for a slower interlude after trekking, though activities depend on weather and lodge location.

Day 4: Return to Kigali

After breakfast, drive back toward Rwanda, complete border formalities and continue to Kigali. If time allows, stop for a meal or short city orientation before a hotel or airport drop-off. Allow sufficient time for immigration and traffic when choosing your onward flight, particularly if departing the same day.

Overnight: Safari ends after the agreed drop-off; additional accommodation can be arranged if required.
