Detailed Day-by-Day Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Entebbe to Lake Mburo
Depart Entebbe for the southwest, travelling through towns and farmland toward Lake Mburo National Park. Arrive for a game drive if time permits, looking for zebras, buffaloes and antelope along open tracks. Check in to your selected lodge for dinner, and discuss the next day's programme with your driver-guide.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 2: Lake Mburo to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Begin with a morning wildlife outing or guided walk and enjoy breakfast before continuing west. The route passes broad landscapes and settlements toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. Depending on arrival time, enjoy an evening drive close to the lodge. The park supports elephants, buffaloes, antelope and many birds, though sightings always vary.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 3: Game drive and Kazinga Channel cruise
Start at first light for a game drive through an appropriate sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Return for breakfast or a late meal, then embark on a scheduled boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. Hippos, waterbirds and other wildlife are often seen from the water. Finish with a relaxed evening overlooking the park landscape.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 4: Ishasha sector and transfer to Bwindi
Travel south through the Ishasha sector, keeping watch for wildlife including the area's well-known tree-climbing lions, which are never guaranteed. Continue toward the Bwindi highlands with lunch en route. Arrive at a lodge close to your assigned gorilla trekking sector and prepare for an early start on the following day.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking adventure
Join the park briefing before setting off through Bwindi's dense vegetation with trained rangers. The search can range from a manageable walk to a demanding hike, depending on the gorillas' movements. Enjoy your regulated visit with the allocated family and return to the lodge after the trek. Rest for the evening and take in the forest atmosphere.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi relaxation
Leave Bwindi after breakfast and travel toward Lake Bunyonyi, an area of steep terraced hills and calm freshwater scenery. Spend time at a viewpoint or take a guided boat excursion if desired. Enjoy an unhurried afternoon at the lodge; guests often welcome this quieter day after the intensity of gorilla trekking.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 7: Return to Entebbe
Depart southwest Uganda for the long drive to Entebbe, with comfort and lunch stops along the route. Arrive late in the day for your planned airport or hotel drop-off, subject to traffic. We recommend a late departure flight or an additional Entebbe night when scheduling international connections.
Overnight: Safari ends after the agreed drop-off; additional accommodation can be arranged if required.
