Safari Overview

Combine a memorable mountain gorilla encounter with quiet lakeside scenery and a gentler pace in southwest Uganda. This is a private safari proposal, with your accommodation choices and activity arrangements agreed before booking. Travel times are indicative and depend on roads, weather, park arrangements and border formalities where applicable.

Suggested route: Entebbe – Bwindi – Lake Bunyonyi – Entebbe.

Detailed Day-by-Day Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Travel south to Bwindi

Depart Entebbe after breakfast on a full-day journey toward the southwest. Watch the landscapes change from central Uganda to rolling hills and forested mountains. Break for lunch at a convenient town along the route, then continue to your lodge near the assigned Bwindi trekking sector. Enjoy dinner and an early night.

Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.

Day 2: Track mountain gorillas

Arrive at the ranger briefing point on time for the mandatory orientation. Guided by trackers and armed park rangers, walk forest trails and slopes to find the allocated habituated gorilla family. The trek can be physically demanding, and sightings cannot be timed precisely. Return for a shower and a quiet evening, with optional cultural activities arranged only if your energy allows.

Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, then travel toward Kabale and the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi basin. Check in beside the water and take in the island-studded views. Spend the afternoon on a relaxed boat ride, guided nature walk or lodge terrace. Activities and transfer times depend on the chosen accommodation.

Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.

Day 4: Unhurried lakeside day

Begin the morning with lake views and a leisurely breakfast. Today is deliberately flexible: explore nearby viewpoints, visit a community-led project, take a guided canoe outing or simply rest. Speak to your guide about suitable activities for your group. No strenuous excursion is necessary, making this a welcome contrast to the forest adventure.

Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.

Day 5: Journey back to Entebbe

Set off for Entebbe after breakfast and travel north through the highlands. Lunch and comfort stops are included in the day's planning, and the drive is long. Your guide will deliver you to an Entebbe hotel or airport as arranged. Consider an overnight stay before any early international flight.

Overnight: Safari ends after the agreed drop-off; additional accommodation can be arranged if required.

Important Safari Planning Notes

Gorilla trekking participants must be at least 15 years old. Permit availability is limited and every trek follows the relevant park authority rules. Wild animals move freely, so sightings and trekking durations cannot be guaranteed. Accommodation and activities are proposed options until we confirm space and receive your approval. Please share your travel dates and group size for a current quotation.
