Safari Overview
A northern Uganda wildlife journey combining rhino tracking at Ziwa, game drives in Murchison Falls National Park and a boat safari on the Nile. This is a private safari proposal, with your accommodation choices and activity arrangements agreed before booking. Travel times are indicative and depend on roads, weather, park arrangements and border formalities where applicable.
Suggested route: Entebbe – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls – Entebbe.
Detailed Day-by-Day Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Travel from Entebbe to Ziwa and onward to Murchison Falls
Meet your driver-guide after breakfast and drive north towards Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Join an approved guide on a walk to look for southern white rhinos, observing the ranger instructions and recommended distances. Enjoy lunch en route before continuing towards Murchison Falls National Park. Check in at your lodge and unwind before dinner.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 2: Northern-bank game drive and Nile river landscapes
Set out early on the park’s game-viewing tracks, where Uganda kob, hartebeest, Rothschild’s giraffe, elephants, buffalo and occasionally lions may be spotted. Return for lunch and enjoy a relaxed afternoon or an optional additional drive depending on your lodge location and park conditions. Your guide will select routes according to road access and current wildlife activity.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 3: Morning safari and afternoon boat to the base of the falls
Spend the cooler morning hours looking for savannah wildlife, then return to the lodge. Later board a scheduled or privately chartered boat on the Nile for a journey upstream towards the base of Murchison Falls. Along the riverbanks, hippos, crocodiles, waterbirds and elephants are possible sightings. The boat generally does not pass through the waterfall itself; the exact operating schedule is confirmed in advance.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 4: Top of Murchison Falls and an unhurried final park afternoon
Travel to the top of the falls for a view of the Nile as it squeezes through a narrow rocky gorge. Spend time photographing the landscape from permitted viewpoints. Afterwards enjoy lunch and a flexible afternoon for a nature-focused outing or additional game drive, subject to park rules and the final route agreed for the trip.
Overnight: A suitable lodge or hotel in the overnight destination, chosen after your preferred comfort level and availability are confirmed.
Day 5: Return to Entebbe or Kampala
Have breakfast and begin your drive south to Kampala or Entebbe with planned comfort and lunch stops. The journey can take much of the day depending on traffic and road conditions. We will coordinate drop-off with your onward arrangements, and can recommend an additional overnight stay if a same-day flight is too early.
Overnight: Safari ends after the agreed drop-off; additional accommodation can be arranged if required.
