Uganda and Rwanda welcome safari visitors throughout the year. Each season has advantages, whether you are hoping to photograph green forest scenery, combine several national parks or enjoy more predictable road conditions.
Drier periods
June to September and roughly December to February are often favoured for trekking and savannah game viewing because some trails can be less muddy. These periods may also bring stronger demand for gorilla permits and popular accommodation.
Greener periods
Rain is possible in any month, particularly in rainforest habitats. Wetter months can offer lush landscapes, quieter visitor periods and beautiful photography, although some trails may be slippery and driving times longer.
How far ahead should you plan?
We recommend checking gorilla permits before making non-refundable flight or accommodation commitments. For longer trips that include Uganda and Rwanda, allow realistic travel time between parks and border crossings. We can help structure a sensible itinerary based on your dates.
